Here at Paraffle we want to bring embroidery to as many people as possible.

We keep three blogs updated:

👩‍🏫 One for the basics.

🎬One for the stitches.

💡And one for inspiration.

Bee Banner Embroidery Kit

Our paisley Bee banner kit is a great way for beginners to embroider their own wall hanging.

The DIY kit includes everything you need to learn the basics of hand embroidery - while making a piece of tapestry style art that you can proudly display in your home.  The bumblebee design uses ten embroidery stitches, and the helpful guide included has clear instructions and photos to  teach you all the new techniques - making it easy to get started on your own wall hanging!

Also included in this kit is a small pack of bee friendly wildflower seeds, a cute bee charm and an information leaflet on supporting bees!

For every Bee banner kit sold, Paraffle donates £11 to the Scottish Beekeepers' Association charity (Scottish charity number: SC009345).

To make your own hanging banner, all you need are a pen, a pair of scissors, and an iron - easy!

    1. Our kits are as eco-friendly as possible, with organic & ethically sourced fabric, FSC wooden hoops made in the UK, FSC and or recycled paper/card, and recycled postal mailers.

    2. All Paraffle kits are handmade in Scotland, in our Edinburgh studio - buying from us means supporting a small, female founded business.

    3. All of our kits - from super simple to intermediate - include a detailed booklet, with lots of photos to teach you each stitch. If videos are more your style, there’s video tutorials covering every stitch you’ll need in our ‘Stitches’ blog.

    4. The kit includes a high quality reference photo of the finished design, and an easy to follow key showing you which stitches and colours to use.

    5. Each kit includes a quality 8 inch wooden hoop and plenty of DMC thread (so don’t worry if you make a mistake or want to practice first!).

    6. Our kits come with a pre-printed pattern to stick onto your fabric. It’s water-soluble, so you simply stitch over it, then wash it away (don’t worry, the threads are coloursafe!). Our patterns aren’t printed directly onto the fabric - we’ve done our research, and haven’t found any fabric printers that can tell us exactly where their fabric comes from and how it’s made. That’s important to us - so we found another way!

    7. Embroidery is a helpful tool for encouraging mindfulness and giving you some extra head space. Our kits aim to gently teach you lifelong skills and get your creative juices flowing (even if you’re not a ‘crafty’ person!).

    8. We’re a carbon neutral business, and donate at least 10% of our profits to charity through dedicated charity designs.

Cant tell you how impressed I am with my little bee embroidery kit. This was my first time embroidering and I wasnt sure whether I'd be able to pick it up but so far so good. The instructions as well as the stitch guide has made it really easy to pick up and I like how friendly and approachable the company comes across - offering support if needed. Not needed to use but like the option. I also think it's a nice touch to add in the bee charm and bee friendly seeds. Love everything about this and will be ordering something else from the store when I've finished. I've also recommended to my friends.

I hadn’t tried embroidery before and I’m definitely not “crafty” - I struggle to thread needles and can’t sew a button on to save my life... BUT This kit made it really easy and fun! The pattern is really fresh and contemporary and between the videos on the paraffle blog and the handbook that comes with the kit we attempted all the different types of stitching. I absolutely loved it, I was delighted with the result and I can’t wait to try my next kit - then maybe a bag kit after that!!
